Show up for you in 2030…
I was listening to a podcast with Ryan Serhant, and he said something that struck me.
He said, “I’m not doing anything for Ryan in 2021. I’m doing what I am doing for Ryan in 2030.”
“I’m doing everything I need to do now, so when I get to 2030, I can look back and say I showed UP and didn’t leave anything on the table.”
I loved this.
Most people are so short-sighted in their life.
They are doing what’s good for them right now, in this second.
And years down the road, they look back and ask, “WHY did I do that?”
Here’s an example from my own life…
One terrible habit and realization I had recently was during my son’s bathtime.
During our bonding time, I was listening to some paid programs, podcasts, or found myself sometimes scrolling social media platforms.
Then one time, I caught him looking at me.
I wasn’t sure if it was a look like… “WTF, Dad… this is our time,” or if it was just a look.
Then I heard the podcast and said to myself, “In 10 years, are you going to wish you were present with Jordan (my son) more often? Will you be proud of being a good dad or upset that you didn’t take advantage of the time together?”
I pretty much gave myself a clear answer on what I wanted the answer to be in 2030.
So, I challenge you. Look at what you do on a daily basis. Are you going to be proud of it in 2030?
One thing is clear… we all have limited time here on earth. Don’t waste it.
