One More Question & Answer For You

Last month a few of my coaching clients went through a major dip on the Entrepreneurial Roller Coaster ride.  Some took the “hits” better than others, but as I’ve mentioned many times here…

No Matter What Happens,
You CANNOT Hit The Panic Button

Easier said than done, I know.

Here’s some advice I shared with each of them…

“I want you to find your “bible”… This is the book or philosophy that gives you a better perspective on life.

My bible is The Art of Living – a short, easy-to-read translation of Epictetus’ teachings.

My friend Marcus Martinez always goes back to The Tao Te Ching.

Vince Del Monte uses the actual Bible. (He likes to take my advice literally.)

No matter what you choose, having a “Perspective Bible” keeps your worry and fear in check, and reiterates Rule #7 from my 12 Rules for Living that goes like this:

“It will all be over soon.  Both the good times and the bad.
So persevere through the worst, and make the most of the best.”

Another of my famous sayings will help you through this.

Action beats Anxiety.  Motion beats Meditation.
Work beats Worry.

Controversial.  Many people get ANGRY with me when I say this because they don’t ‘get it’.  But whenever things aren’t going right for me or my clients, I tell them:

But it’s the #truth.  YES, meditation is good for you.  Yes, real anxiety needs professional treatment (I know from personal experience). BUT…

In your DAY-to-DAY living, on those mornings when you wake up staring at a big project, or during those afternoons when your to-do list is long and your deadlines are short, sitting there and meditating / worrying / or letting anxiety creep in from inaction is not the answer.

You have to show up, step-up, and do the work.

“If you’re going through hell, KEEP GOING,” Churchill said.

He didn’t say, “If you’re going through hell, stop and whine about life to everyone.”

The world is depending on YOU to get through your hell so that you can help them get through theirs.  You are the LEADER that the world needs now more than ever.

Do not say, “I can’t do that,” or, “I’m not good at that,” or “I’ll do it later.”

You must have URGENCY.
You must take massive action NOW.
That’s what high-performers, like you, must do.

Listen, you might not do it perfect but you have to get it done.

So no more sitting around thinking about it…. worrying about it… or wondering what you should do or if you should do it… no more waiting, hesitating or procrastinating.

Take action.  Get in motion.  Do the work.  Because…

Action beats Anxiety.  Motion beats Meditation.
Work beats Worry.

Never, ever stop on becoming a better you, helping others, and making your IMPACT.
